Parent Meet-Up • Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 6:00 PM
We’re excited to join Q StudioLab parents for a casual meet-up in Jackson Heights! This is a warm, informal gathering where current and prospective families can connect, share resources, and learn more about our K–8th grade programs.
Location: The Queensboro 80-02 Northern Blvd, Jackson Heights
To RSVP: Text 646-712-1459
This is a great space to ask questions, meet members of our community, and hear directly from families about their experiences at Q StudioLab. We’d love to see you there!

A Note From Q StudioLab Parent Organizer:
Hi All,
I wanted to invite you to a parent meet-up at The Queensboro on November 4 at 6pm, to learn about an alternative school in our area, the Q StudioLab.
It can feel daunting choosing a kindergarten for your child - wondering what kind of experience will best nurture their curiosity and confidence. We read in our parent groups and I’ve spoken with many parents torn about homework; how much academics vs. arts; creative and critical thinking; outside and play time; and the extent to which screens & devices are used in learning. All the questions…
When my own family went through this process, we got to know the Q and decided to try it out. It was not an easy decision, but it’s been such a nice experience for our children that I’m organizing this JH parents meet-up so you can hear directly from the director and get to know the school’s philosophy in case you’re curious.
The Q StudioLab started as a co-op of parents and is becoming an independent-status school now. It’s in Sunnyside, and there's a bus from JH already established. It’s tuition-based, but I can tell you it is cheaper than many daycares and far more affordable than many private schools in NYC.
It’s a project-based, Reggio Emilia-inspired approach—hands-on, with small-sized, device-free classes that blend academics with arts, theater, music, science, and plenty of outside time. It’s a collaborative intellectual exploration between teachers, students, and even parents who sometimes become active participants in the learning process. There are also focused “clubs” in different grades, etc.
There are great options and schools in JH, but if you’re thinking of alternative options for any reason, I’m happy to chat more.
Or if you’ve heard of schools in the district but are still curious about other kindergarten/elementary options in our area, you should come to The Queensboro (downstairs room) on November 4 at 6pm and get to know the Q StudioLab.
Lauren Travers, the director, will be there to answer questions about kindergarten, admissions/tuition, and beyond.
RSVP is not required, but it would be great if you let us know you’re coming!
The Queensboro also mentioned that parents are welcome to make a reservation and dine in that night :) We’re so thankful for them fostering this space for our community.
Thank you,
Luisa
